UNIOSUN UNREST: AS STUDENTS SAYS NO TO INCREASE IN PAYMENT AND LATE PAYMENT TO 20K

 

  

The unrest started as  result of PTA meeting that was held which some parents agreed on paying the amount proposed by the school govt.

the recent situation came up as a result of broadcast message sent from the faculty officers

read the message below

This is to inform the general students of Osun state University that
the management has come up with a new managerial style, which prompt
them to make some policies which  parents agreed with. Policies such
as :

*School fees should be paid by the second week of resumption, that
after the the third week failure to pay part or full payment of the
school fees will attract #20,000.00 extra.
That students who fails to attend  70% of lectures will not be allowed
to write the examination for such semester.
*That the school should allow the parents to be the one paying the
school fees themselves and that he students will be the one to do the
course registration themselves, this is due to some behavior of some
students towards payment of school fees.
*That the parents will be paying total sum of #5000 for the annual
parent forum due.
That the resumption date is 24th of oct, 2016.

STUDENTS are now soft protest to let the school knows the following

 NO to NO FEE NO LECTURE

NO to after two weeks of resumption late fee

NO to security fee.

We want available ICT at all time.

We want adequate health care.

We want functional sports facilities and activities.

We want on time result paste.

*All in all we want Liberty for our students at every campuses of UNIOSUN*

A university is a social,

academic and political institution that can only function through some
human agencies: the university staff and the students. Each of these
human agencies has roles to play: one of it can not be autocratic or
totalitarian, if one of it decides to be there will an infringement on
the rights of the other which will result in violence or social
unrest.

PAYING FOR ICT WITHOUT ENJOYING THE BENEFIT OF ICT, ORDINARY
LOGIN TO OUR INDIVIDUAL PORTAL WE ARE UNABLE TO DO SO.

 PAYING #5000 FOR SPORT WITHOUT ENJOYING THE BENEFIT OF SPORT.
WHAT ARE THEY USING OUR MONEY FOR?
THEY CAME UP WITH THE IDEA OF HAVING PTA MEETING, ARE WE A SECONDARY
SCHOOL STUDENT?

THEY TOLD US TO HAVE AND BE WEARING DEPARTMENTAL WEAR, WE ABIDE BY IT.

MY DEAR COMRADE, LET'S JOIN HANDS TOGETHER THIS TIME AND FIGHT AGAINST
THIS UNFAVORABLE POLICY MADE BY THE GOVERNING COUNCIL.
